New power sensor is intended for use together with data analysis units such as Next-LCD and Next-USB. The device has an internal dual-channel ADC. The signal is digitized inside the sensor and is transmitted in digital form via the Lab-bus. This prevents distortion and noise pollution of the measured signal in the process of transmitting. The signal can be transmitted over a cable of a distance up to 10 meters. It is important to note that the sensor has an electric protection system for preventing injuries when working with high voltage and current circuits. The Next-Lab Power Sensor is an all-purpose meter for taking voltammetric characteristics of power and signal circuits as well as it can perform measurements of both high values up to 300 volt and 1200 ampere and small values from 1 volt and 1 ampere in direct and alternating current circuits. In addition to measuring current and voltage, it is possible to measure power, impedance, frequency, harmonic distortion coefficient, amplitude-frequency characteristic and waveform of a signal. For measuring the alternating current/voltage and power, the True RMS algorithm is used. The sensor takes measurements of direct current and voltage (power) used by car amplifiers, as well as alternating current and voltage (power) delivered by the amplifiers to subwoofer or other acoustic components. The device can be connected to the audio path, for example, between car audio and amplifier, for measuring and estimating the low current circuit characteristics, such as amplitude, waveform, AFC and coefficient of harmonic distortion. The Next-Lab Power Sensor can carry out measurements and evaluate quality not only of the car electrical system but also of home and industrial electric networks with power up to 360 kW with voltages up to 300 V and current up to 1200 ampere.
The device is performed as a monoblock, combining the contactless current sensor, dual-channel ADC module, electric protection system and Lab-Bus interface. The device has one Lab-Bus port for transmitting data and RCA jack for measuring voltage or for connecting the low current signal source. The current sensor has an opening for cabling of a diameter up to 22 mm. The case of the device is made of shockproof plastic material.
